Advanced Photon Source

The Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne national laboratory is a U.S. national synchrotron x-ray research facility funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science, Office of Basic Energy Sciences. The APS provides the brightest x-ray beams in the Western Hemisphere to more than 5,000 scientists worldwide. For more information see the APS website.

Argonne National Laboratory

Argonne National Laboratory is one of the U.S. Department of Energy's largest research centers. It is also the nation's first national laboratory, chartered in 1946. For more information see the ANL website.

City of Chicago

The city of Chicago is one of the largest cities in the USA. Sitting on the shores of Lake Michigan, it is a vibrant modern city with many attractions, excellent restaurants and great hospitality. The spectacular sky line alone makes it worth a visit.

Getting to the APS

Chicago O'Hare airport (international and domestic) and Chicago Midway airport (domestic) are both within easy reach of Argonne labs.

If traveling by car, exit south on Cass from route I-55 and then turn right at the Argonne sign on Northgate Road immediately south of I-55. There is a map of Argonne Labs location available on Google Maps. Once on the Argonne campus, the APS is located on the southern side of the site.
