[ccp4bb] Postdoctoral position at the CNRS in Lyon
Job opening for a highly motivated structural biologist to join the
Biocrystallography and Structural Biology of Therapeutic Targets team at
the Molecular Microbiology and Structural Biochemistry Research Unit in
Lyon (France).
A 1 year postdoctoral position with support from the Foundation of
Innovation in Infectious Diseases “FINOVI” is available to study enzymes
from the purine salvage pathway in the malaria parasite Plasmodium
falciparum. The research project proposed is performed within a
consortium of scientists residing in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region,
and aims at a better understanding of the complex mechanisms with which
the enzymes from this pathway operate, by studying the role of new and
innovative effector molecules.
Our studies involve a multidisciplinary approach, which combines
molecular- and structural biology along with classical biochemistry, and
is done in collaboration with international biology and parasitology
groups
A Ph.D. degree in biochemistry or biophysics, and a solid experience in
both biochemistry and X-ray structure determination are required.
Background knowledge and experience in protein expression and
purification is highly desirable, and knowledge in molecular docking and
in cryo-Electron Microscopy is a plus.
Lyon is one of the major cities in France and is ideally located in the
centre of Europe within two hours of Paris, the Alps and the
Mediterranean. It has a strong cultural and intellectual tradition, is
widely known as the gastronomic centre of France, and the old town is a
UNESCO World Heritage site.
The position is available immediately, and interested candidates should
send their CV, a letter of interest and the contact information of 3
references to nushin.aghajari@ibcp.fr. Please make sure to use the
subject line “application for post-doctoral fellowship FINOVI” in the
application email.
