Research Associate/Assistant Professor positions

Research Associate/Assistant Professor positions are immediately available in the Laboratory of Antibody Structure (PI: Prof. Ian Wilson) at Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies (SIAIS), ShanghaiTech University (http://siais.shanghaitech.edu.cn/eng/research7.asp). SIAIS is an innovative research institute dedicated to the fundamental problems in life science, particularly in the fields of immunochemistry, structural biology, immunology and virology, computational biology, cell and molecular biology.

The Lab of Antibody Structure utilizes a multidisciplinary approach, which embraces x-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, bio-mass spectrometry, and other biophysical methods, to study the host entry of various pathogens and their interaction with host cells and immune system, with a long-term goal of understanding and modulating the functions of important host receptors and immune effectors for the prevention and treatment of microbial infections, immune disorders, or cancers.

We are now seeking self-motivated and creative researchers to join our team. Candidates for Research Associate/Assistant Professor positions should:

--- hold a Ph.D. degree in fields relevant to the Lab interests, including structural biology, bioinformatics, immunology and biochemistry)

--- have a strong research background in related fields

--- have a publication record commensurate with experience

--- manifest good problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills

Some particular areas of interest for new appointments are:

--- experience in membrane protein _expression_/purification and membrane protein crystallography or cryo-EM

--- experience in electron tomography of viruses

--- experience in integrative modeling

--- experience in small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) and familiarity with ITC/Biacore/DSC instruments.

Besides taking responsibilities for his/her own and collaborative projects, the candidates are also expected to help train and supervise graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and technicians. The candidates will benefit from the world-class academic environment as well as easy access to SSRF beamlines for macromolecular crystallography and SAXS, and state-of-the-art cryo-EM instruments (two Titan Krios/K2, Talos Artica, and other microscopes) installed close to our lab at ShanghaiTech University.

If interested, please send a cover letter, a curriculum vitae with publication list and list of three referees to  hr_siais @shanghaitech.edu.cn (cc: wilson@scripps.edu and yangbei@shanghaitech.edu.cn). Title and salary will be commensurate with experience. The positions will remain open until filled.
