The duty person is responsible for answering helpdesk queries, logging bugs, and ensuring they get fixed.
The helpdesk week runs from 5pm on a Friday i.e. when you start on Monday morning, check back over emails from the weekend.
In the past, one of the duties was to clear the ccp4null mailbox, see Charles' description below. Other duties are described in the CCP4 Programmers' Handbook.
The rota throughout 2019 is shown below. The next week to begin (at 5pm on a Friday) is the first one shown in bold.

It is a Friday afternoon job (or early in the next week if need be). If it did not occur in your duty period it is not your problem. The general rule is to delete it (unless it is in owner-ccp4bb or owner-ccp4dev). I have just cleared it. 12 days worth took 10 minutes, I have 1 job posting to forward to ccp4bb and 1 majordomo request (it seems to have taken as long to write this e-mail). * Delete everything in the INBOX bar wg2 messages. * Delete spam from BOUNCE . Forward job adds to the bb (I picked up 2 in the last week). You will have to bounce them to your own mailbox to do this. Determine actions on other mails yourself. * Ignore ARPWEB. * Bounce majordomosend to yourself and approve the action. * Ignore OWNER-CCP4BB and OWNER-CCP4DEV (it is an archive of what went to the list) * Delete everything in SPAM Why do it? Well for one thing it stops me getting grief from Chris Dean (or D. Laff in the future) about the amount of space our mailbox has taken up. When dlpx1 runs out of disk space I GETasked to clear the mailbox, something which has already happened this year.
