3 Postdoctoral Position in Sydney, Australia:
Structural Biology of HIV:host interactions and capsid uncoating
We are seeking a 3 exceptional candidates for a postdoctoral positions in, protein crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, and virology to better understand
the how the HIV capsid responds to host molecules during the process of infection. We aim to apply a range of structural and virological methods to image model capsid systems and authentic viral capsids in the presence of externally applied recombinant cofactors
and metabolites in order to understand the nature and regulation of the uncoating event. The data will build on our recently developed single molecule fluorescence methods for measuring HIV core stability and help complete our understanding of the multiple
essential roles played by the capsid. The successful candidates will join our team of protein scientists, biophysicists, and virologists at the EMBL Australia Node in Single Molecule Science, University of New South
Wales, Sydney, Australia (http://sms.unsw.edu.au) and the ARC Centre of Excellence in Advanced Molecular Imaging (http://www.imagingcoe.org). The postdoctoral researchers will have
an active role in conceiving and implementing approaches, training and supervision of research staff and students and presentation of the results in the form of publications, international conference presentations and potentially grant applications.
The postdoctoral positions are a full-time fixed term position available for 12 months from January 2020 onwards with strong prospects for a 2-year extension.
