Dear CCP4bb and CCPEM members,
A Wellcome Trust-funded post-doctoral position in Structural Biology is available at the School of Biochemistry, University of Bristol and at the cutting-edge Bristol Synthetic Biology Centre, BrisSynBio, a leading UK and international centre of excellence (www.bristol.ac.uk/brissynbio).
As part of a dynamic team, the post-doc will study the structure and function of large macromolecular complexes in gene _expression_ transcriptional control. The project involves structure determination by single-particle electron cryo-microscopy and crystallography of large multicomponent complexes produced in insect cells (MultiBac technology) and their functional characterization.
The position requires a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Structural Biology or a related field. Outstanding applicants have experience in guiding structure determination projects from start to finish. Experience in electron cryo-microscopy and image processing and/or crystallography is required. The successful candidate is highly motivated, committed individuals who enjoy working as part of a highly dynamic, collaborative and multidisciplinary team and good communication skills.
The post-doc will be based in the Berger (lead) laboratory in a highly collaborative setup including the Schaffitzel group (Bristol), Marc Timmers (Univ. of Freiburg, Germany), Laszlo Tora (IGBMC Strasbourg) and Juri Rappsilber (Univ. of Edinburgh & Berlin). We are seeking to fill the post as soon as possible.
