Dear Colleagues, We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist interested in
Membrane Proteins to join our multi-disciplinary team at the Structural Genomics Consortium (University of Oxford).
We currently have the following exciting job opportunity: Research Assistant Position
(application deadline: May 23, 2019):
We are
seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to provide
molecular biology, eukaryotic (insect and mammalian) _expression_ and protein production support for a collaborative project, the aims of which are to unlock Solute Carrier Proteins (SLCs). SLCs are integral membrane proteins which are challenging to express
and purify. Therefore, we are seeking someone with creativity in devising both generic and specialised solutions for difficult proteins.
The Research Assistant will be working closely with other researchers in the
Biotechnology Group and the Membrane Protein Structure & Function Group at the Structural Genomics Consortium Oxford and
collaborate with academic and pharma partners within ReSOLUTE (Research empowerment on solute carriers).
ReSOLUTE is a public-private research partnership
with 13 international partners from academia and industry supported by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) (https://re-solute.eu/consortium).
A major objective of this research is the recombinant production of human SLC family members to generate antibodies and other affinity reagents, such as
camelid single-domain nanobodies and sybodies. These affinity reagents are powerful tools that can be used as crystallization chaperones for X-ray crystallography, to
modulate transport in functional assays and to facilitate single-particle cryo-electron microscopy. For more information please visit:
