[ccp4bb] Research Technician position for crystallography/protein production facility

Dear Colleagues,

A full-time research lab technician position is available at the Michael DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research at McMaster University, in Ontario, Canada.  The position will be shared between the McMaster Macromolecular Crystallography Facility and the Centre for Microbial Chemical Biology. Duties will include oversight of an X-ray diffractometer with single-crystal and SAXS capabilities, a crystallography liquid handler and imaging robotics, and several protein purification systems. The candidate will be expected to oversee the maintenance of this equipment, facilitate the training of new users, and may participate in the determination of protein structures. Experience with the collection and interpretation of X-ray diffraction data is desired. Strong communication skills and mechanical aptitude with laboratory equipment is a must.

The position is initially for a one year probationary period; however, funding is in place for a long term position should the candidate meet all expectations. McMaster University offers a generous benefits package to its employees (drug plan, dental coverage and pension) and being located at the intersection of the cities of Dundas, Ancaster and Hamilton, is located in a relatively affordable region of Ontario. Nearby housing is available in rural, suburban and urban neighbourhoods, all of which have a minimal commute time to the university.
