We would like to draw your attention to the following open position: Scientist at Beamline P11, DESY, Hamburg

DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics. More than 2400 employees work at our two locations Hamburg and Zeuthen in science, technology and administration.

With the storage ring PETRA III and the Free-Electron-Laser (FLASH), DESY offers a unique combination of photon sources to the scientific community. PETRA III, one of the most brilliant hard X-ray facilities worldwide, currently provides 23 undulator beamlines for experiments utilizing the extreme source brilliance. The Bio-Diffraction Beamline P11 provides high flux and versatile experimental setup for structure determination of biological samples. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our beamline team.

The position:
User support and commissioning work at beamline P11
Beamline instrumentation and/or methodological develompment, e.g. in field of automation of data collection pipelines
Work in an international, interdisciplinary team in a close contact with the user community
Develop and pursue research projects in the field of macromolecular crystallography

Requirements:
PhD in biochemistry, chemistry or a related field
Experience in protein crystallography and structure detemination using synchrotron radiation, supported by the publication record
Working experience in instrumentation of macromolecular crystallography beamlines
Teamwork abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Working knowledge of Linux environment and experience in programming languages such as Python is an advantage
